How I jump start my writing process - after the coffee.
Updated: Jul 30, 2022
Some days I stare at a blank page - ok, usually it's a blank screen and think Sh*t, I don't know how to write. Then I realize that I do. I can put words on paper, I can report, but to really write something inspired, is to take the plunge into sensory details, is to sink into what teachers and artists call the 'flow.' Maybe, musicians say that too. I dunno know. Good prose gets me going. I pick up a 'mentor' book like Rachael Herron's Fast-Draft Your Memoir. - Honestly, it wasn't her breakneck writing speed that got me going, it was her humor. Laughing through pain is preferable to crying through it. Then there were the amazingly talented youtubers like Shaelin Bishop from Reedsy. I almost feel guilty 'taking' all their free insight, knowledge, and experience. May this year of 2022 be the year I get to give back... I hope it's a satisfying and rewarding year for all of you that are a part of this amazing group; I've learned so much, and I want to read all of your memoirs - just as soon as I can finish mine - enfin.
